The Garden Club of the Eastern Shore’s entry in the 2019 Daffodil Day brought home the blue ribbon in the Inter Club category (Parallel arrangement, “Parade of Blooms”), and a Quad Blue Award for Best Inter Club in Show.
The 2019 Daffodil Day, held Tuesday at the Lewis Ginter Botanical Gardens in Richmond, was the 85th annual daffodil festival held. It featured judged contemporary and traditional floral designs, hundreds of daffodil specimens, and an exhibit of photographs created using a variety of techniques.
Garden Club of Virginia President Jean Gilpin presented the H. Littleton Mears Memorial Silver Trophy to Wendy Walker, President of the GCES.
Eastern Shore Garden Club member Diane Ginsberg also won a white ribbon for her stunning photographic composition.
Historic House and Garden week in Virginia begins April 27 and will culminate on Saturday, May 4 with the Garden Tour Day on the Eastern Shore. This year’s tour will focus on the town of Onancock with the perrenial favorite Eyre Hall rounding out the sites. More information may be found at esgardentours.com.
