Free American Flags available to Celebrate America 250

The Accomack County Republican Party will distribute 1,700 American flags to local residents as part of efforts to commemorate the upcoming 250th anniversary of the United States.

According to organizers, the flags were provided by State Sen. Bill DeSteph and will be available free of charge while supplies last. Residents are encouraged to display the flags in their front yards, on porches, or in gardens as part of the nation’s semiquincentennial celebration.

The first 700 flags will be available beginning June 8, with an additional 1,000 flags scheduled for distribution starting June 12.

Flags may be picked up at four locations across Accomack County:

• Vance’s Furniture, 2454 Lankford Highway in New Church
• Vance’s Furniture, 28423 Railroad Avenue in Melfa
• LeCato’s Interiors, 36326 Lankford Highway in Belle Haven
• Jackson’s Hardware, 24270 Bennett Street in Parksley

Organizers said the giveaway is intended to help residents participate in celebrations marking 250 years of American independence. No purchase is necessary, and flags will be distributed while supplies remain available.
