Four indicted for shooting at occupied dwellings by Northampton Grand Jury

Four young Eastern Shore of Virginia men were indicted late last week by a Northampton Grand Jury on charges that involved gunfire aimed at homes, vehicles, and people in the Cheriton area last June.

According to court records, officers responded to reports of shots being fired on Bluebird Road, Briar Court, and Sunnyside Road on June 14. Multiple cars and apartments at Bayview Gardens were hit by gunfire, and a woman was struck in the foot. Officers took photos of damaged vehicles and dwellings. Casings were collected from the road for evidence. Witnesses told authorities a black sedan drove through and started shooting. As the car was leaving, a white Grand Marquis and a light blue vehicle were seen chasing the dark sedan, and shots were fired between those who were in the cars, the record stated.

Eighteen-year-old Nykeem Ijour Bailey, of Walnut Lane in Birdsnest, and 19-year-old Nicholas Edward Petrillo, of Seaside Road in Painter, were indicted on counts of maliciously shooting at an occupied vehicle, shooting firearms from a vehicle, maliciously shooting at an occupied dwelling, maliciously shooting a person, destruction of $1,000 or more worth of property, wearing a mask to conceal their identities, using a firearm in a felony, shooting at another in the commission of a felony, and malicious wounding by a mob. Bailey was also indicted on a count of being a nonviolent felon in possession of a firearm.

Nineteen-year-old John Davis Barbour, of Redwood Road in Onancock, was indicted on counts of destruction of more than $1,000 worth of property, discharging a firearm from a vehicle, maliciously shooting another person, maliciously shooting at an occupied building and maliciously shooting at an occupied vehicle.

     Twenty-seven-year-old Khiry Di’Fredrick Washington, of Blue Bird Road in Cheriton, was indicted on two counts of shooting a firearm from a vehicle.
