Former Accomack County Supervisor Paul E.J. Muhly passed away Tuesday.   Muhly served two terms on the Board and was instrumental in bringing the new library to its current location in Parksley.  During his two terms Muhly also worked to get an EMT program in the Accomack County School System, and the Davis Center in Whitesville.  Muhly also worked to get improvements on the Saxis causeway and was also active in the movement to have an elected school board.

Several members of the Board of Supervisors commented on his passing at last night’s meeting.   Supervisor Parks, who replaced Muhly in District 4 said “Paul was a very dedicated public servant who will be missed by everyone in District 4.  Chairman Jackie Phillips said that when he first joined the Board that Muhly told him that being a supervisor is a full time job. Phillips said “each week he drove around his  whole district.”   Supervisors Johnson, Crockett,  Washington,Major and Hart also stated that he continued to support the community in his retirement and that he will be missed.

Funeral arrangements are currently pending.
