A former Town Clerk of Hallwood was in Accomack County District Court for a preliminary hearing on charges she embezzled money from the town. Angela Taylor waived the preliminary hearing meaning the case will move forward to the Circuit Court level.

Taylor was arrested on January 30 and charged with 65 counts of embezzling more than $200 from the town.   Taylor said she was taking the town records to an auditor in Atlantic when the car she was driving allegedly caught on fire on Wessells Farm road which is west of Hallwood. The fire completely destroyed the vehicle and the town records.

Taylor is currently out on bond pending the trial. Judge Gordon Vincent said all of the conditions of the bond will continue. A trial date has not been set.
