Family members have released the names of the two adults and one toddler whose slain bodies were found Friday morning in a Nelsonia house fire.
Alejandra Gonzalez, 25; her 3-year-old daughter, Sofia Escalante Gonzalez; and her 24-year-old brother-in-law, Wilson Escalante, all were killed before a fire gutted a single-wide mobile home in the 28000 block of Johnson Court.
A state medical examiner said Saturday that each sustained injuries inconsistent with a fire and State Police are now investigating as a homicide and arson.
“They were really nice people,” said Alvaro Morales, who said he has known the family for 15 years.
Celestina Perez Velazquez, the slain woman’s mother and the slain man’s mother-in-law, had been living at the residence for 14 years.
She said through a translator, Jorge Ramirez, that they lost everything in the blaze.
She was working at Tyson Foods Inc. in Temperanceville when she heard of the fire and of the deaths of her family members.
