Exmore pedestrian killed in accident Thursday evening

An Exmore man died Thursday evening after being struck by a vehicle while he attempted to cross Route 13.

Damiyr Keon Lawrence, of Jane Pittman Street, stepped onto the southbound lanes of Lankford Highway from Ruth Wise Road when he was hit. According to a police report, Lawrence had been drinking at the time.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver was not charged.

Exmore Police Officer Mateo responded to the incident. The Virginia State Police are conducting a crash reconstruction.
