Chief Angelo DiMartino

Exmore Police Chief Angelo DiMartino is retiring after two decades of dedicated service to the town.

Appointed as Chief of Police in Exmore, DiMartino became a familiar presence in the community through consistent enforcement efforts and participation in local outreach initiatives. Under his leadership, the department placed emphasis on mental health crisis training and de-escalation strategies, including Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) training, which he credited with improving responses to residents in need.

In a public ride-along with WTKR’s investigative team, DiMartino voiced concerns about traffic safety along Route 13, stating, “It is never about revenue … It’s just about safety,” as he worked to reduce speeding in high-risk areas.

The Exmore Police Department, under DiMartino’s direction, actively participated in community events such as National Night Out, annual Easter egg hunts, toy drives, and Special Olympics activities. He was recognized locally as Law Enforcement Officer of the Year for his service and leadership.

Town officials and residents expressed deep gratitude for his service, noting that his legacy of dedication and community-focused policing will continue to guide the department.

“Your leadership, commitment to our community, and the countless lives you’ve touched will be missed,” read a statement from the town. “We wish you a well-deserved retirement filled with joy and relaxation.”
