The Eastern Shore of Virginia Community Foundation (ESVCF) has appointed Dr. Jim Shaeffer, Beth Sharpley, and Dr. Leslie West to its Board of Directors, bringing expertise in education, finance, and community leadership.
Dr. Jim Shaeffer, President of Eastern Shore Community College since 2019, has expanded educational programs and workforce training. He will retire in June 2025, leaving a legacy of innovation. Beth Sharpley, CFO at Coastline Chemical, is an active community leader, having chaired the 2024–2025 United Way Campaign and raised over $103,000 for Habitat for Humanity. Dr. Leslie West, a Shore native and UMES professor, specializes in accounting and business management, with previous leadership roles at Broadwater Academy.
“We are thrilled to welcome these exceptional leaders,” said Monika Bridgforth, Executive Director of ESVCF. “Their passion and expertise will greatly benefit our community.”
ESVCF also thanked retiring board members Karen Downing and Rob Leatherbury for their dedicated service.
