“Eastern Shore Community College would like to clarify some additional points on Thursday’s news story on Governor Northam’s announcement of the launch of a $2 million initiative to attract young adults in Virginia to high-demand jobs through FastForward training programs at Virginia’s Community Colleges. This particular initiative, which will start out at only 5 of the Commonweath’s 23 community colleges, is an outgrowth of an existing effort with the Fast Forward at all of the 23 state schools, including Eastern Shore Community College.
The newly funded Youth Training and Employment Initiative will provide 18- to 24-year-old Virginians with career exploration and planning, accelerated occupational skills training, supportive services, digital and soft skills training, and job placement assistance. The Fast Forward Program that is accessible at all 23 school in the VCCS, is a short-term workforce credential program to train Virginians for top, in-demand jobs across the Commonwealth such as the upcoming cyber security based CompTIA offerings this Fall at ESCC Workforce Development. For students meeting the Fast Forward criteria, two-thirds of the costs may be covered.
For more information on the Fast Forward Program and what is available to ESCC students on the Shore, please contact the ESCC Fast Forward Representative Barbara Rang at 757-789-1745.”
