Elderly Woman Dies in Saxis Mobile Home Fire

An unidentified elderly woman died in a mobile home fire in Saxis. 

According to reports from a witness at the scene, the woman and her daughter occupied the residence.  The woman called to the daughter that there was a fire in the living room.  The daughter was able to escape via a kitchen door but the mother who was unable to walk without the assistance of a walker was unable to get out the back door.  The identity of the victim has not been released as of this time. It is reported that the victim was on oxygen but it is not known if that was the cause of the fire.

911 reports the call came in at 5:31 p.m.  Saxis,Bloxom, Atlantic, New Church and Oak Hall Rescue responded to the scene.
