Tropical weather from Hurricane Debby is expected to be a mostly rain event for the Eastern Shore.
The poorly defined center of the storm was near Charleston S.C. early Thursday. The center is currently expected to move inland over South Carolina later today and then turn north moving through central Virginia sometime Friday.
The main effects for the Eastern Shore will be rain bands that are expected to pass through the area today and Friday. These bands could produce between 1 and 3 inches of rain. By the time the center moves over Virginia it is expected to be a tropical depression and winds should not be a problem. While parts of Virginia west of the Chesapeake Bay are under a flood watch, the Eastern Shore is not currently included.
As Debby moves north, it should accelerate in speed. Overall, we could experience around 2 inches with more in some areas on the Shore. As tropical systems go, there could be brief periods of heavy rain during the next 36-48 hours.
