The Eastern Shore Family YMCA celebrated 25 years of operation on the Shore this past week.
A week long celebration was held for members including food, games and giveaways.
“It was really good to connect with a lot of members and staff that have been with us the whole time. We started as a store front in Onancock, then survived COVID and people have stuck with us,” said Andre Elliot, the Executive Director of the Onley facility.
The facility, which opened 1999, was established to meet the growing demand for health, wellness, and community programs on the Eastern Shore. The YMCA facility was built to provide a wide range of services for individuals and families, with a focus on promoting physical fitness, youth development, and social responsibility.
Since its opening, the Eastern Shore Family YMCA has become a central hub for health and wellness activities, offering programs that cater to all age groups, from children to seniors. The facility has also offered thousands of swim lessons to residents of the Eastern Shore in its indoor pool facility.
