Accomac, VA – This week the Eastern Shore Health District would like to recognize all of the men and women from Accomack and Northampton Counties who serve our public as federal, state, county and local government employees. Public Service is career that anyone should be proud of!
The public servants at the Accomack and Northampton Health Departments work hard to try to make our community better through our many programs such as Women’s, Infants, and Children (WIC), Vaccines for Children (VFC), Ryan White, Maternity and Nurse Family Partnership, Reproductive Health, Every Woman’s Life and Susan G. Komen, Community Emergency Response Team (CERT), Medical Reserve Corp (MRC), Epi Emergency Response Team, Beach Water Monitoring, Lead Poisoning Prevention, Rabies Prevention, Marina Sanitation, Tourist Establishment Sanitation, Migrant Labor Camp Sanitation, Food Safety and Restaurant Inspections, Onsite Sewage and Private Well programs, and more!
With more than one hundred years of combined service, here is what a few of our staff have to say about their chosen careers:
“I have worked for the Eastern Shore Health District for nearly 40 years. I consider it a privilege providing assistance and a pleasure to have met so many good people in my community and have enjoyed working with an amazing group of people.” – Marian West, Buyer/Purchasing Agent
“When citizens have called other agencies without finding a solution to their problem, or an answer to their question, it is personally rewarding to find the information they need, or identify the agency that can assist them. I believe it restores people’s faith in government when a public servant makes a concerted effort to help them.” – Keith Privett, Environmental Health Supervisor
“I’ve enjoyed working at the Accomack and Northampton County Health Departments for over the last 32+ years. I love helping people in the community whether it’s with preventive health issues or investigating communicable diseases.”- Ann Lawson, Public Health Nurse Senior
