A Maryland man, who crashed on the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel last December ending a high-speed chase, was sentenced Monday in Northampton Circuit Court to three years in prison for felony eluding.
All but two months of the term was suspended for 23-year-old Colby William Horner, of Dames Quarter. Records show he was sought after being clocked by radar going 101 mph on the 17.6-mile facility. He continued north while disregarding lights and sirens and eventually entered the construction area and crashed, the record stated.
Horner was also fined $500. He was given 30 days for DUI. The terms were set to run concurrently.
In another case, a robbery by force charge was reduced to petty theft for 34-year-old James Dagam Bowdoin, of Mount Columbia Road in Manquin, Va. Bowdoin also pleaded no contest to assault and battery and being intoxicated in public. He was sentenced to two weeks of active time. The incident occurred last September.
Sixty-six-year-old Keith Hamilton Underhill, of Capeville, pleaded guilty to embezzling more than $1,000 on July 13, 2023. He also pleaded guilty to misdemeanor defrauding a hotel or motel and trespassing last September. A charge of burglary was not prosecuted. A presentence report was ordered. Sentencing was set for Oct. 21.
