The 4.1 magnitude earthquake that was centered just northeast of Dover Delaware yesterday apparently had no effect on the Virginia counties of the Eastern Shore.   No serious damage or injuries were reported in the Dover area and no reports of anyone experiencing the effects have been reported thus far on Virginia’s Eastern Shore.   According to news reports, the effects radiated out approximately 130 miles from the center of the quake which was located in the area of the Bombay Hook Wildlife Refuge about 10 miles northeast of Dover. Some effects were reported as far away as New York City and Washington D.C.


The last earthquake to affect the east coast was centered in Louisa County, Virginia ten years ago. That quake did cause some moderate damage to structures as far away as Washington D.C.
