In Virginia Beach, State Senator Bill DeSteph continued a long-standing holiday tradition this week by serving Christmas Eve meals to neighbors in need.
Working alongside volunteers from the Judeo-Christian Outreach Center, the senator helped prepare and distribute warm meals at Mount Olive Baptist Church. Because of ongoing construction at the outreach center’s main facility, the event moved to the church on North Birdneck Road to ensure the local community still had a place to gather for the holiday.
Senator DeSteph planned the menu himself, stating that this time of year is defined by a spirit of giving and remembering those who are less fortunate. He says he remains a strong supporter of the outreach center’s mission to help veterans and families recover from crisis and regain their independence.
For those looking to help, the senator is encouraging residents to visit the Judeo-Christian Outreach Center website to learn more about year-round volunteer opportunities.
