The Eastern Shore of Virginia Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) is offering a $1,000 scholarship to a graduating high school senior from Accomack County.
The scholarship is intended for a member of the Class of 2025 who plans to attend college and pursue a major in American History or Political Science. Eligible applicants should maintain an A or B average during their senior year and must provide letters of recommendation from school officials, including the principal, guidance counselor, teachers, and others familiar with the student’s academic performance and character.
DAR chapter representatives say the scholarship aims to support and encourage a student whose passion for American history or political science may lead to a meaningful career in public service or historical scholarship.
“Our hope is to help a deserving young person follow a path that fulfills their ambitions while also contributing to our country’s future as a capable and patriotic historian or diplomat,” the chapter stated.
To be considered, students must submit a completed application, personal essay, counselor sheet, and required recommendations by Monday, May 5, 2025.
Applications and further information are available through high school guidance counselors in Accomack County or by contacting Mary Margaret Browning, DAR Scholarship Chair, at P.O. Box 442, Wachapreague, VA 23480 or by email at [email protected].
