The Northampton County Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) recently awarded the annual Good Citizenship Award at their January 25, 2025 meeting. Katherine Arnold, a senior from Broadwater Academy, received the award. During the Chapter meeting, Katherine read her winning essay and shared some of the activities that she is currently involved in and some of her future plans. Katherine was presented with a certificate, a pin, and a monetary award. The essay will be considered for state and national DAR Good Citizen Awards.
The DAR Good Citizens Award and Scholarship Contest, created in 1934, is intended to encourage and reward the qualities of good citizenship. Annually, the Northampton Chapter invites Northampton County high schools to submit entries that are reviewed by a committee. This award recognizes and rewards high school seniors who possess the qualities of dependability, service, leadership, and patriotism in their homes, schools, and communities. These students are selected by their teachers and peers because they demonstrate these qualities to an outstanding degree.
