
Fourteen members of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) representing ten different Chapters from across the United States attended the Genealogy and History of the Eastern Shore (GHOTES) four day conference in Parksley held June 26-29, 2024. Of the Northampton County Chapter, Anne Barnes, Esther Baker, Cara Burton, Kathy Lehman, and Susan Robinson attended.
Other Chapters represented from across the country included the General Levin Winder, Commonwealth, Massanutton, Old Glory, and George Pearis. Over seventy GHOTES members attended the educational conference because of their family roots on the Eastern Shore.
Held in the new Eastern Shore of Virginia Heritage Center at the new regional library, GHOTES attendees learned about DNA in researching family histories, MilesFiles research tips, African-American ancestry research, the upcoming Virginia250, and other local history and genealogy topics.
