The Accomack County Board of Supervisors voted Wednesday to approve an agreement that provided an emergency generator at WESR.
The County recognized the need for WESR to be on the air in the event of a weather emergency. WESR will provide the fuel and an annual maintenance fee. The generator will be available during any power outage.
WESR’s owner Charlie Russell said, “We have a long history of providing the citizens of Accomack County timely information in emergencies like hurricanes and snow storms. Often during these events cell phone and internet services are interrupted. We also have a back up FM transmitter in place in the unlikely event our main transmitter would fail. We appreciate the trust the County has for our services and have now done everything we can to insure we will be there when most needed.”
