The triumphant true story of America’s Favorite Sex Therapist! Dr. Ruth K. Westheimer changed the way we talk about sex and relationships with her hit ’80s radio call-in show, Sexually Speaking. Now, she welcomes us into her home to share the unlikely path she took to becoming “Dr. Ruth.” With her trademark wry humor, warmth, and candor, Dr. Ruth recounts her life’s many roles: a child escaping Nazi Germany on the Kindertransport; an Israeli sharpshooter in the 1940s; a single mother in America; and finally, the global celebrity sought out by presidents. This life-affirming solo show is a testament to resilience, forging your own path, and the joy of human connection.

Birding Eastern Shore Presents: Chincoteague Island Nature Trail Birding Walk

FIELD TRIP HIGHLIGHTS: Join trip leader Joette Borzik to look for a variety of warblers and other spring migrants in addition to breeding birds at this local hotspot.

LOCATION: 6078 Hallie Whealton Smith Drive, Chincoteague, VA

This outing is free, and the public is invited to attend. Always be prepared for ticks, the sun, mosquitoes and changing weather. Some binoculars will be available to borrow for those who do not have them.  When registering, please request binoculars if you will need them. Bring water and a snack. Those who have limited time can leave early if needed.

57th Anniversary Celebration of Refuge Temple Outreach Ministry

Refuge Temple Outreach Ministry, 30540 Depot Street, New Church, Virginia will celebrate its 57th Church Anniversary, Thursday, May 15th, Friday May 16th at 7:30 PM and Saturday, May 17th at 5 PM.  Guest Preacher:  Apostle Ivan Grant, Sr., of National Fellowship Church of God, Inc. of Orange Park, Florida.

There will be a 2 family indoor yard sale at Calvary U.M. Church, 21475 Hopkins Road near Parksley Saturday, May 17th from 8 until 2.

Breakfast and lunch served by the church ladies.

Women’s Day at First Baptist Church in Mappsville

Sunday May 18th- Women’s Day with Min Zatoria Poulson of New Metompkin Baptist Church at 2pm at First Baptist Church in Mappsville.

Myrtle Grove Lecture on the Lawn

2:00 pm.  The Northampton Historic Preservation Society will have a “Lecture on the Lawn” at Myrtle Grove. This 18th century gambrel roof-style colonial house, owned by John and Crystal Marshall, has exquisite architectural features and a fascinating history!

Dr. Scott’s lecture will address the house and the property in relation to the families of Kendall, West, Nottingham, and Downing and will answer interesting historical ‘tidbits’ such as: Was Myrtle Grove part of a large Kendall family seaside plantation? Was it once a tavern?  Did Colonel William Kendall really have two sons with the same name?  Is it older than previously thought?

Myrtle Grove is located at 13033 Seaside Road, between Machipongo and Bird’s Nest. Wear comfortable clothing and bring a lawn chair. Admission is free, but a donation of $10 is gratefully accepted!
