Free Safety and Marksmanship Training for Youth

NOAAWIVA Sportsmen Inc. will host the Youth Sportsfest Saturday, October 19^th 2024 at 30516 Chincoteague Road, Oak Hall, Virginia, starting at 8:30 AM and continuing until about 3:30 PM.

The range is about 200 yards east of T’s Corner, marked by signs.  Due to the number of participants in this fun annual event, parking will be along Chincoteague Road in front of Food Lion, with free shuttle transport provided to and from the range itself.

This event is FREE for all girls and boys from eight to eighteen.  Safety equipment and ammunition will be provided.  Lunch and soft drinks are free to the whole family.  Junior and Senior prizes and trophies will be awarded.  All you need to do is show up and check in!

The activities will include Safety and Event Orientation, Air Rifle Target & Metallic Silhouettes, (8-18 years old) AM & PM;  .22 Rifle Target Shooting (8-18 years old) AM & PM;  Shotgun with Clay Birds (11-18 yrs. old), AM;  Service Rifle (13-18 yrs. old), after lunch.  Certified instructors will supervise each activity. Do not bring any personal firearms.

The New Church Volunteer Fire and Rescue Company will host their Fall Festival Fundraiser this month. The event will include a variety of fun for the whole family to enjoy!

Italian Dinner Experience in a Real Train Dining Car

Tickets are on sale for the Italian dinner experience in a real train dining car beginning at 4:30 pm. Contact the Eastern Shore Railway Museum for availability. The event takes place Saturday October 19th. Limited space is available.

Swine & Wine fundraiser to benefit Boys & Girls Club

The annual 2024 Swine & Wine dinner and dance benefiting the Boys & Girls Clubs of Southeast Virginia – Eastern Shore Club is tonight. at the Mary N. Smith Cultural Enrichment Center outside of Accomac from 5 to 9 p.m.

This gala event will feature roast pig and chicken plus wine and other beverages. Live entertainment and a DJ will provide the music for enjoyment and dancing. A silent auction will feature Eastern Shore art, golfing trips, fishing gear and many other items.

Swine & Wine is the biggest fundraiser of the year for Boys & Girls Club. Through this event and other local support the Eastern Shore Club is able to provide services to students in grades K-12. All club members receive programming which focuses on three priority outcomes – academic success, good character and citizenship, and healthy lifestyles. The club meets at the Mary N. Smith Cultural Enrichment Center each weekday after school and all day in the summer. The club has a 100 percent graduation rate among its members.

Tickets to the event are $50 and $40 for young adults 30 years and younger. No tickets will be mailed this year, but held at the door.

Haunted Corn Maze

The Cheriton Volunteer Fire Company will be hosting a Haunted Corn Maze every Saturday in October and Halloween night from 7-10 PM. $8 admission for adults, ages 3-15 are $5 and kids 3 and under are free.

Come get scared and support the Cheriton Volunteer Fire Company.

 

Men’s Day at Adams UMC

Men’s Day at Adam’s United Methodist Church in Parksley will be Sunday, October 20th at 3 PM.  Rev. Harold White will be the guest speaker.  All are welcome.
