A Coastal Flood Warning is now in effect from 4 p.m. Saturday March 3 until 5 p.m. Sunday

Tides on mainly on the seaside of the lower Eastern Shore could range from 1 to 2 ft. above normal within a few hours of high tide on the seaside.   Minor flooding could also occur on the bayside as well.

Several tide cycles of minor to moderate coastal flooding are expected to occur Saturday evening through Sunday afternoon.

The major impacts are expected to occur on the immediate shoreline with significant beach erosion and damage to dune structures possible. Be prepared for the possibility of road closures and do not attempt to drive through flooded areas.

High tides on the seaside will occur between 9:30 and 11:30 Saturday night and between 10:00 a.m. and noon on Sunday.   VDOT will be managing the Chincoteague causeway to determine if it will need to be closed. So far the causeway has remained open.

On the bay side the high tides late Saturday and early Sunday will range from 10:30 at Cape Charles to midnight at Onancock and 1:30 at Saxis and Crisfield. Residents of areas prone to flooding on the bayside should keep an eye on the tide and plan accordingly.
