A Chincoteague police officer was recently charged with the misdemeanor offense of recklessly handling a firearm.
Twenty-eight-year-old Officer Noah Austin McGee, of Deerfoot Road in Melfa, was formally accused of the crime on June 23, according to court records. The incident is alleged to have occurred on May 8.
Sgt. Nicholas Kugler of the Accomack County Sheriff’s Office was listed as the complainant in the case.
Chief Tyler L. Greenley, of the Chincoteague Police Department, declined to comment on the charge. He only disclosed that the officer has worked for the town since 2023.
