The Chincoteague Island Library is pleased to announce the 2026 “Lubbock’s Learners” Summer Reading Program, running from June 1 through August 8. This year’s theme, “Unearth a Story,” invites children and families to explore reading, imagination, and discovery through a fun, dinosaur‑themed summer adventure.
Registration continues through July 1, either online or in person at the library. Participants can pick up their game boards during regular library hours and begin tracking their reading and activities throughout the summer. Children will have opportunities to earn prizes and rewards as they complete their goals.
To celebrate the start of the program, the library will host a Summer Reading Kickoff Event on Saturday, June 13, from 11 AM to 2 PM at Robert Reed Park. The event will feature games, activities, and family‑friendly fun to welcome readers into the program.
According to Linda Ryan, Vice President of the Library Board of Directors “We are so pleased to encourage reading and learning activities for children during the summer months and to offer a program that fosters a lifelong love of discovery
All activities must be completed, and all materials must be turned in by August 8 to be eligible for end of season prizes and recognition.
