The Chincoteague Chamber of Commerce will host its inaugural Beacon Awards on Thursday, June 5, 2025, beginning at 5 p.m. at the Chincoteague Center, 6155 Community Drive. The event builds on the legacy of the Chamber’s Annual Awards to recognize individuals, organizations, and businesses who demonstrate leadership and excellence across the community.
The evening will feature light fare and desserts catered by the Channel Bass Inn and a cash bar offering a signature drink. Business casual attire is requested.
Since 1990, the Chamber has honored distinguished community members through the Leonard “Buddy” Burton Outstanding Business Person and John White Shields Outstanding Citizen awards. These recognitions, along with the annual Nicki L. West Memorial Scholarship for a deserving Chincoteague High School senior, will continue to be presented as the Chamber’s Annual Achievement Awards.
In addition to these long-standing honors, the Beacon Awards introduce new Community Impact Awards, including Best Initiative, Educator of the Year, and Emerging Business. Finalists were selected by committee, with winners determined by an online vote that drew more than 400 responses from the public.
The event will also celebrate local businesses that have operated for 50 years or more, recognizing their lasting contributions to the economic and social fabric of Chincoteague.
All past award recipients are invited to attend and be part of the celebration. Their presence is seen as vital to honoring the Chamber’s continuing tradition of service and excellence.
RSVPs are required by noon on Monday, June 2. For more information or to confirm attendance, contact the Chamber at [email protected] or call 757-336-6161.
