The Chincoteague Chamber of Commerce invites you to the Chincoteague Old-Fashioned Christmas Parade to be held on December 7, 2019 (please note: inclement weather date is Friday, December 13th). This year’s theme is “Peace, Love & Christmas….circa 1969” as a salute to Virginia Tourism Corporation’s “Virginia is for Lovers” 50-year-old slogan. Enjoy fire trucks, equestrian units, decorated boats, shiny classic cars, marching groups, motorcycles, and fabulous floats along the parade route from the intersection of Maddox Boulevard and Main Street to American Legion Post #159 at 4023 Main Street where Santa will be waiting and refreshments will be provided by the Kiwanis Club of Chincoteague.
Enjoy holiday music and a little shopping before the parade gets underway. The invocation will be given at 6:30 at the Judges Stand on the porch of the Chincoteague Island Library and the parade will begin at 7 p.m. Parade lineup is at 6:30 p.m. for those participating in the event. Lineup numbers and more information will be posted on www.chincoteaguechamber.com on December 6th.
Enjoy the “Homes for the Holidays” Home Tour sponsored by Historic Main Street Merchants Association. Other events of the day include American Legion Post #159 Children’s Christmas Party, Holiday Open House at the Museum of Chincoteague Island and Chincoteague Cultural Alliance’s Cookie Decorating. Bring a toy to put in the Chincoteague Police Car as it passes by on the parade route as part of their Annual Toy Run for area children. Check out details on all events at www.chincoteaguechamber.com/events. You’ve even got time for dinner in one of our fabulous restaurants before the parade begins!
