
The Accomack County School Board will see some new faces in 2024.
Longtime member Dr. Ronnie Holden in District 8, lost his bid to remain on the board to local reporter and former teacher Stefanie Jackson. The unofficial vote total Wednesday was 790 for Jackson and 641 for Holden.
Incumbent District 4 member, Gary Reese also lost his bid to remain to former State Trooper Glen Neal who held a strong lead 642 to 417.
Incumbent Jesse Speidel in District 1 fended off a challenge by Connie Burford, winning 712 to 528.
Down in District 9, incumbent Malcolm “Pep” White held on to his seat with 684 vote to challenger Alex Vargas’s 605.
In District 3, Lisa M. Cropper Johnson also was re-elected, defeating challenger Jessica Lewis 474 to 407.
In District 6 Jason Weipert, running unopposed will join the Board in the new year.
Incumbents Camesha Handy, Janet Turner, Ed Taylor will remain on the board.
