The Eastern Shore of Virginia Chamber of Commerce’s annual ChamberFest returned in full force this past Saturday, drawing a strong crowd to the Canonie Railroad property in Cape Charles. Billed as the Eastern Shore’s premier tailgating event, the festival featured live music from Irie Tree Band, Thunderstruck, and headliner 38 Special.
The event was well attended, with large crowds staying throughout the day to enjoy the music and festivities. Sunny skies and a brisk breeze made for ideal weather, contributing to the high energy and lively atmosphere. A selection of food trucks, including Peach Beach Shave Ice and In and Out Food Box, offered a variety of refreshments for festival-goers.
ChamberFest attracted attendees from across the Eastern Shore and surrounding areas. Among them were Cape Charles residents Patty and Jim Conley, attending their second ChamberFest. Patty said last year’s positive experience was what brought her back — and this time, she brought her husband along.
Sandra Johnson, Accounting Assistant for the Eastern Shore of Virginia Chamber of Commerce, noted that securing talent for the event was one of the biggest challenges. She described 38 Special as the largest act the event has ever hosted and praised the overall lineup, which also included Thunderstruck and the returning Irie Tree Band, as the strongest in ChamberFest history.
