This September, the Chincoteague Island Library, in collaboration with the American Library Association, is celebrating Library Card Sign-Up Month with a special invitation for residents and visitors to explore the library’s extensive resources. During the month, individuals of all ages are encouraged to sign up for a free library card and take advantage of the many benefits it offers.
Library Manager Teresa Wright emphasizes the value of a library card, stating, “The Chincoteague Island Library is more than just a place to borrow books. It’s a vibrant community resource offering diverse programs, job search assistance, homework help, and much more. Whether you’re looking to enhance your skills, research information, or connect with fellow readers, a library card opens up a world of possibilities.”
As an added incentive, new library cardholders who sign up in September will receive a complimentary ticket to the “Island Treasures” library basket raffle. The raffle promises exciting prizes and adds a festive touch to the sign-up process. Visitors are also invited to take their photo with the “big library card” to commemorate their registration.
The Chincoteague Island Library is open to all, and obtaining a library card is a straightforward process that supports both academic success and lifelong learning. The library’s hours are Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Thursday from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM, and Saturday from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM.
