Jerry Keith Brady has resigned from the Eastville Police Department.
According to Eastville Town Manager Kevin Doughty, Police Chief David Hall informed him that Brady submitted his resignation late last week.
Brady was indicted September 1 in U.S. District Court in Norfolk on 12 counts of wire fraud and two counts of money laundering, accused of defrauding banks and acquaintances out of nearly $820,000 through a false inheritance scheme. Prosecutors allege Brady told friends and associates he was due a large inheritance or life insurance payout but needed loans to cover fictitious legal fees, often failing to repay the money and at times requesting additional funds. The scheme allegedly took place between 2020 and 2024, with funds transferred from multiple states into Brady’s Tennessee account. The case is being investigated by IRS Agent Nathan Perrow.
Brady had been placed on administrative leave by the Town prior to offering his resignation. He has pleaded not guilty to the charges.
