At Wednesday’s Accomack County Board of Supervisors meeting,   911 Director Jeff Flournoy addressed the board on an issue with members of the Tangier Island Volunteer Fire Company not being able to receive dispatches from the 911 center in Accomack on a consistent basis.   Flournoy said that radio reception on Tangier is poor and that he recommended a repeater be placed on a tower owned by the town. The total cost to upgrade the system on Tangier is $37,264.

The Supervisors unanimously approved the expenditure from the Coonty’s Contingency Fund.
