According to officials, Tuesday’s barricade situation in Sign Post has been resolved and the suspect is safe and in custody.
48-year-old Danny Charles Outten of New Church surrendered to the Virginia State Police Tactical Team without incident late Tuesday afternoon at his home near Sign Post.
Deputies were called to a reported domestic dispute around 8:30 a.m. on Sign Post Road in New Church — just south of the Virginia-Maryland state line.
Responding deputies determined that a man was barricaded inside a home and had threatened to harm himself. Virginia State Police troopers and Virginia Marine Patrol responded to the scene to assist deputies.
Outten was transported to Riverside Shore Memorial Hospital for an evaluation and two warrants for obstruction of justice have been issued for him.
According to Sheriff Todd Godwin, at approximately 08:32 am. on November 07, 2017, the Accomack County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a domestic incident at 33625 Sign Post Rd. New Church, Virginia
Upon deputies arrival it was determined that a male subject had barricaded himself inside his residence and was threatening to harm himself.
Eastern Shore residents noticed a large number of police vehicles proceeding north bound up route 13 Tuesday morning and early afternoon.
The Accomack County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Virginia State Police and the VMRC.
