A&N issues another Beat the Peak

A&N Electric Cooperative has issued another Beat the Peak Alert for today, July 3, due to continued hot weather and higher projected energy use across the region.

The voluntary alert will be in effect from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Co-op members are encouraged to conserve electricity during that period by raising thermostats a few degrees, turning off unnecessary lights, delaying the use of major appliances such as dishwashers and dryers, delaying the use of hot water, and waiting to charge electric vehicles until after the alert has ended.

A&N Electric Cooperative says reducing energy use during peak demand periods helps lower the co-op’s cost for power. Because A&N is a not-for-profit utility, those savings are passed along to members in the form of affordable rates.

The cooperative notes that members will not receive a credit on their bill for conserving energy during the alert, and they will not be charged more if they do not conserve. The Beat the Peak program is voluntary and is designed to benefit all co-op members.
