A&N Electric Cooperative has announced a Beat the Peak Alert for tomorrow morning, Tuesday, January 21, from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m., due to anticipated high energy consumption during extreme cold weather conditions. The cooperative is asking members to voluntarily reduce their power usage during these peak hours to help manage energy costs.

During the alert period, members are encouraged to take several simple conservation measures. These include lowering thermostats by a few degrees, turning off unnecessary lights, and postponing activities such as running dishwashers, using clothes dryers, or charging electric vehicles until after the peak period has passed.

The cooperative explains that community-wide conservation during high-price periods helps maintain affordable rates for all members through their not-for-profit operational model. When members reduce power consumption during times of peak energy use, the cooperative’s overall cost for power decreases.

While participation in the Beat the Peak program is entirely voluntary, the cooperative emphasizes that the collective effort benefits the entire membership. Members will neither receive individual credits for participation nor face penalties for non-participation in this community cost-saving initiative.
