Democrats Lynwood Lewis and Phil Hernandez are by far and away ahead of their Republican opponents following the 2nd quarter reporting of donations.
According to VPAP.org, Senator Lynwood Lewis added $16,860 in June to his war chest, for a total of $145,090. Lewis’ opponent, business owner Elizabeth Lankford, reported she has raised $35,650 in June.
Hernandez reported a massive $95,749 in donations in June alone, adding to the $65,764 he had already raised between January and May for a total war chest of $161,513. However, Delegate Rob Bloxom reported he raised $475 in June and $38,058 before May 31, giving him a total of $38,533. Bloxom defeated his opponent in the 2017 election by a margin of 6% in spite of being out raised by the Democrats by approximately 3 to 1.
