Accomack Sheriff: Maryland man commits suicide in Pungoteague

According to Sheriff Todd E. Godwin on November 3, 2019 at approximately 2:57 P.M. the Accomack  County Sheriff’s Office received reports from the Maryland State Police that a subject was having suicidal thoughts and was traveling in a white GMC pickup.

At 3:23 P.M. Accomack County Sheriff’s deputies located a white GMC pickup near the intersection of Bobtown Road and Pungoteague Road in Pungoteague, Virginia. Upon further investigation deputies found a male subject suffering from a self-inflicted gunshot wound inside. The body was transported to the Office of the Medical Examiner in Norfolk, Virginia.

The Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the body as Zachary Patrick Webster, 23, of Preston, Maryland.

The Accomack County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Virginia Marine Resources Commission, Parksley Police Department, and the Department of Public Safety.
