A deadly incident is under investigation after a vehicle fire spread to nearby brush on Green Hill Road early Sunday morning. According to Accomack County Sheriff W. Todd Wessells, emergency responders were alerted to the fire at approximately 7:15 a.m. on December 15, 2024.

Upon arriving at the scene, deputies discovered the body of an unresponsive male in a wooded area near the fire. The individual, later identified as 30-year-old Warren Thomas Fosque III of Horntown, appeared to have suffered gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Fosque’s body was transported to the Norfolk Medical Examiner’s Office for further investigation into the cause of death. Local authorities are continuing to probe the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The Accomack County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by multiple agencies, including the Virginia State Police, New Church Volunteer Fire Department, Oak Hall Rescue Inc., the Virginia Department of Transportation, and the Accomack County Department of Public Safety.
