Accomack Schools begin 24-25 school year today

School is back in session today for Accomack County public school students.  Northampton and Broadwater students began the 24-25 school year last Monday.  School busses are on the road all over the Shore and as usual drivers need to be careful of busses loading and unloading.

The big change in Accomack Schools this year will be the new policy regarding the use of cell phones. Elementary students with cell phones MUST keep them off, and out of sight, on the school bus to and from school, during the school day.

Middle school students with cell phones must keep their phones off and stored away in book bags for the entire school day.

High school students with cell phones must keep their phones off and stored away in book bags or purses; in addition, all other electronic devices and accessories must be stored out of sight in backpacks or bags. High School students are not permitted to use their cell phones during the school day and are not allowed to make or accept calls at any time.

Middle and High School students can use their devices while on the bus to and from school, however, they should not be seen or heard by the bus driver. Students are not allowed to make or accept calls at any time.

Northampton’s cell phone policy as printed in their policy manual is as follows:    Students shall have no expectation of privacy with respect to their use of PCDs on school premises and during school-related functions, both on and off campus. B. All possession or use of PCDs shall be regulated and/or prohibited at each school or during school events as deemed necessary to prevent disruption of the learning environment and to maintain order on school property and during school-related functions, both on and off campus
