An Accomac man pleaded guilty Thursday in Accomack Circuit Court to abduction and strangulation of his girlfriend last March.
Twenty-eight-year-old Irvin Roblero-Ortiz, of Cooper Lane in Accomac, admitted the crimes in a plea bargain with Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney William Fox. Charges of destruction of property, and assault and battery of a family member will not be prosecuted in exchange for the guilty pleas to the other charges.
The victim was punched, her hair was pulled, he broke her cell phone when he used it to hit her on the head, and she was strangled until she passed out. He also would not let her leave the home. The woman contacted her sister for help. Her sister called the sheriff’s office and officers responded to the home.
A short-form presentence report was ordered. Sentencing was set for Jan. 9, 2025.
