Accomack County Tax Assessor Brent Hurdle advised the Accomack County Supervisors Wednesday night that the State Land Evaluation Advisory Council had advised him that agricultural land value is up 7% and forestal land is up 10%.

Hurdle explained to the supervisors that there are 551 parcels in the County that would receive no benefit from their classification. He also told the supervisors that there are 112 parcels that are subject to renewal in 2018. Referring back to the 551 parcels, Hurdle said that this increase will now put the value above market value, but procedure was that they would be taxed at market value, therefore receiving no tax break.
