The Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia and the Eastern Shore’s Tasley location is set to explore expansion opportunities with the support of a $100,000 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) awarded to Accomack County.
The grant, designated as a planning grant, will fund efforts to assess and identify the needs for expanding foodbank services in the region. The study will evaluate how to enhance operations to better serve residents facing food insecurity.
Administered by the Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development, the CDBG program provides funding to support community development initiatives, particularly in underserved areas. The Foodbank Services Expansion Project aims to strengthen food distribution efforts and improve access to essential resources for Eastern Shore communities.
