Eastern Shore received much needed rain last night

Storms that passed through northern and central Accomack County and southern Northampton County Thursday night brought some much-needed rain.

The storms dropped just over an inch of rain in northern Accomack County and approximately a half inch in the Onancock area. Southern Northampton County, south of Eastville, also received more than an inch of rain.

The rainfall will provide a big boost to corn and soybean crops across the region.

The latest drought forecast, released Thursday, showed that much of the Eastern Shore remains in moderate to severe drought.

More rain is in the forecast for Saturday for the Shore.
