The Accomack County School Board has appointed Charles ‘Eddie’ Lawrence as acting superintendent following the resignation of Interim Superintendent David Jeck, who stepped down effective March 5, 2025, due to urgent personal matters.
Lawrence, who currently serves as a part-time assistant principal at Nandua Middle School, previously led Northampton County Public Schools for eight years as superintendent.
The school board approved Lawrence’s appointment during a work session on March 4, ensuring a smooth leadership transition for Accomack County Public Schools (ACPS). The board has not yet announced a timeline for selecting a permanent superintendent, but Lawrence is expected to oversee district operations while the search continues.
The change in leadership follows the departure of David Jeck, who had served as interim superintendent since December 2024. Jeck, who previously led Fauquier County Public Schools for a decade, was selected through the Virginia Association of School Superintendents’ candidate pool.
The Accomack County School Board expressed confidence in Lawrence’s ability to guide the school district forward, ensuring stability for students, teachers, and staff as ACPS continues its mission to provide quality education.
