Accomack County Sheriff's Department

By Linda Cicoira

An Accomack County Jail employee was fired from his job this week after being charged with DUI following an accident on his way to work, according to Sheriff Todd Wessells.

Thirty-five-year-old Jonathan William McQuiston, of Greenbackville, was accused of that misdemeanor, which is a first offense, and using improper brakes, according to records filed in Accomack General District Court.

Commonwealth’s Attorney Spencer Morgan provided McQuiston’s name and the charges and Wessells confirmed he was let go from the Sheriff’s Office following the incident.

The prosecutor said McQuiston was arrested on Jan. 6, 2026, for DUI, reckless driving, and cited for failure to obey highway markings.

“He is still innocent until proven guilty, but I won’t tolerate this type of behavior by my employees,” the Sheriff said.
