On Wednesday evening, Interim Superintendent David Jeck told the Accomack County Board of Supervisors that the budget request he submitted would be the last budget request he would ever make. Then less than two days later, Jeck announced his resignation from Accomack County Public Schools, effective March 5, 2025, according to an email sent to school board staff on Friday.
In his brief statement to staff, Jeck cited “dynamics within my personal life” as making it “impossible” for him to continue in the position.
“I have learned a great deal during my time here and I have enjoyed working alongside each one of you,” Jeck wrote in his email addressed to school staff.
The announcement comes after Jeck’s relatively short tenure as interim leader of the school division. The Accomack County School Board has not yet released information regarding succession plans or the search for a permanent superintendent.
Jeck concluded his message to staff expressing his “highest regard” for those he worked with during his time with the school system.
The School Board is expected to address the resignation and transition plans at its Tuesday meeting.
