The Accomack County Board of Supervisors voted to send a letter to the Northampton Board regarding the possibility of combining the Eastern Shore of Virginia Tourism Commission with the local chambers of commerce. Chairman Robert Crockett said that public reaction to the possibility has been very positive so far.

Accomack County threatened to pull out of the Tourism Commission after its Executive Director posted at a meeting on how to increase economic development that outlawing the poultry industry would help build the tourist industry.

The Board is seeking Northampton’s feelings about using the Chambers of Commerce to do the work currently performed by the separate Tourism Commission.
