The Accomack County Board of Supervisors received an update on the Eastern Shore Sanitary Sewer Transmission Force Main project. HRSD’s Mr. Phil Hubbard told the board that in the first stage of the project HRSD will abandon the sewage treatment plant at the old hospital and establish a pumping station with lines along the railroad right of way to the Onancock Sewage Treatment Plant.  Hubbard said there will be another pumping station at Exmore and the HRSD plans to run a line to within 2 miles of Wachapreague  which could eventually result in service to VIMS and the businesses on Atlantic Ave.

Hubbard also said that the first phase will be to intercept the flow that comes from the Accomack County sewage disposal system and that the businesses that connect to the line will become HRSD customers.

Hubbard said that the spur to connect Accomac to the system will be moved from the first phase to the second phase of the project.
