The Accomack County Board of Supervisors voted Wednesday night to increase raises for full and part time county employees another .5%.  The additional money will be added to the 6.5% raise already implemented and will be effective as of July 1, 2023.  The raise is an across the board increase and applies to all County and State-Supported local employees and is based on the employee wage as of  June 30 of this year.  Employees will see the amounts for July and August in their September pay check.

The total cost to the county will be an additional $105,917 annually of which $88,698 should be recovered from the Virginia Compensation Board plus an additional $1 for state supported local employees as included in the original House and Senate budget proposals.

While there has been some encouraging news concerning the budget negotiations in Richmond, the original budget proposal has not yet been passed.

However it has been stated that the raises will become effective whether or not the state budget is approved.
